Kilimanjaro Challenge 2012

Supporting Challenged Athletes Foundation

The Challenge

A diverse group of fit and philanthropic individuals will travel to Africa and test their limits climbing to an oxygen deficient altitude of 19,340 feet. Their goal,to reach the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest point on the continent of Africa and one of the famed Seven Summits. They are undertaking this arduous journey for the benefit of the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF), to help those less fortunate who may be physically unable to hike freely and explore the world. They will be led by Paul & Denise Fejtek who will be returning to Kilimanjaro on the 10th anniversary of their summit and the first of their "Seven Summits for CAF". Please join us in the challenge and help change lives by making a donation to CAF today!

The Impact of Your Donation

The members of the CAFrica Challenge are raising funds for the Challenged Athletes Foundation, an organization committed to helping people with physical disabilities pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness and competitive athletics. CAF exists because it is not a lack of desire, courage or ability that keeps many challenged athletes on the sidelines -- it is a lack of funding. Your donation will pay for hand cycles, sports chairs, and hi-tech prosthetic limbs that will go directly to assist challenged athletes, including among others American soldiers wounded in Iraq, and allow them to once again fully participate in life.

All members of the CAFrica Challenge are paying their own expedition expenses and travel costs. Your donation will go entirely to CAF a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

About Kilele Foundation Kenya

Kilele Foundation Kenya

Kilele Foundation is a registered Community Based Organization (CBO) with the Ministry of Gender and Social Services in Kenya. The organization was founded in 2002 with a view to empowering local communities in Machakos County in Kenya to participate effectively in transforming their own socio-economic lives.

The formation of the foundation was precipitated by increased socio-economic problems in the county including youth unemployment that has resulted to drug abuse, chronic alcoholism and village crime, increased economic bondage of women, increased spread of HIV/AIDS, wanton destruction of the environment, apparent neglect of the disabled, low levels of access to clean and safe drinking water and marginalization of the girl child.

It is against this background that Kilele Foundation was formed with a view to mobilizing donor funding and local community support in order to generate local solutions for local socio-economic challenges in line with the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
